THE AULD YINS
PRESENTS, FOR YOUR DELIGHT, OUR DECEMBER HAPPENING:
THE DUNDEE GUERRILLA FILM FESTIVAL
Join featured illustrator CHARITY MAY for an art hunt along Dundee’s waterfront.
16/12/23 - 6:00PM TIL 8:00PM - TELFORD BEACON, DD1 3JB.
For our final Happening, Charity May elevates folkloric monsters, villains, and forces of nature into saints, each representing a struggle faced by the city today: from deprivation to climate breakdown. May calls upon viewers to consider the power of folklore and storytelling in contemporary contexts - and utilises December, a season of celebration and giving in so many cultures, to begin an important discussion on how we process the difficulties of contemporary life.
Gather your map and supplies from the hub, and set out in search of the two major artworks installed along the waterfront. As a token from each installation is returned to the hub, we'll unveil a shrine including a full colour copy of each illustration for viewers to enjoy.
We'll also be taking collection for three very worthy charities at the event: Transition Dundee, The Hot Chocolate Trust, and the Dundee and Angus Foodbank.
As always, we'll have our art swap table. Our screening for this month is unusual - and personal. At 7pm we'll be releasing a pack which contains all of the films the DGFF have screened this year: for you to enjoy and share as you see fit, including December's selected film, First Reformed (2017).
Hot drinks and bottled water will be available. Wrap up for this one: the weather predicts a cool, misty night for you to explore!
CONTRIBUTE TO THE FINAL ART SWAP!
Available after 7:00PM.
We want to encourage a culture of radical artistic exchange in Dundee. We don’t ticket our events, or charge any admission! Instead, we suggest that you bring something of your work to add to our art swap table. Bring something, and take something of someone else’s away!
Add whatever you might like to the collection: we’re open to a huge variety! Some examples might include:
